MY worst actors
|
OK, clearly inspired by the other thread and I sha;; start this with Nicholas Cage who will almost certainly win this thread.
Other than Nic, I often wonder if I am alone in being amazed at the success of Martin Freeman?
Landed massively on his feet with his role in The Office. Seems to have done loads of major films since playing exactly the same role, (including when he was a Hobbit).
Anyone else find this puzzling?

Did anybody see David Beckham in King Arthur? Whoever thought a cameo appearance by this plank would enhance their film was badly mistaken.

Not sure what was wrong with Connie Booth as Polly in Fawlty Towers. Presume her marriage was to John Cleese by the time it finished and not sure I’ve seen her in anything else. Think she might have become a psychologist or counsellor or something. While Cleese went off to marry a whole string of other Americans

In Bruges is decent, but let’s not pretend it’s the greatest film ever made.

Have you ever wondered why the so called classics (pride and prejudice et) are remade every ten years or so? It is because they are a vehicle to showcase the latest middle class acting talent who are unable to act in any other jonra.

Colin Farrell? There are two sorts of people in this world, those who think In Bruges is the greatest film ever made and those who don't. Can forgive him just about anything for that

SoS - I assume you didn't watch A Very English Scandal? Hugh Grant showed that he is a very good actor.

Hugh Grant always done my head in playing the same character over and over again and then saw him in The Gentlemen. Absolutely brillant and made the film. I think plenty of actors get type cast, can't get out of it and get gradually worse. Hugh bucked the trend and proved he can act.

Moore did "act" well in "The Man Who Haunted Himself" to be fair. My favourite Bond as well. Watched interesting old interview with him last night about the Bond movies. Interesting how the fella who jumped off the mountain in "The Spy Who Loved Me" nearly came a cropper when one of the skis hit the parachute. Good interview.

So any other opinions on Martin Freeman?
Did The Office give him such a massive leg up that the fact he has no versatility not matter to his marketability?

Brando did ham it up in quite a few films but to call him the worst is an insult to intelligence Al Pacino too both are brilliant actors.
Actors are told to play what they know so the foreign looking ones are going to go to places no white anglo saxon man would understand all that well, lets just say that they are more animated x 10 .
